Anyone handling food should know the importance of food hygiene in order to avoid making customers sick. This 100% online course is considered the minimum requirement for everyone handling food in all states and territories of Australia. ​

What you will learn

Online Food Hygiene for Food Handlers in the retail sector.
This course gives retail staff that handle food the necessary skills in food safety and food hygiene matters, ensuring compliance with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code Standard 3.2.2 Food Safety Practices and General Requirements.
This course is divided into the following four sections each with an online assessment:
  1. ​Introduction 
  2. You and your workplace
  3. Understanding contamination
  4. Typical workplace tasks
The course is 100% online with an assessment at the end of each section and takes about 1.5-2 hrs to complete.
This course provides the following learning outcomes:
  1. Understand the obligation of food handlers under current legislation
  2. Maintain the correct standards of personal hygiene
  3. The correct methods of food handling and storage
  4. Hygiene in relation to typical workplace tasks
  5. Identify potential hygiene risks and how to prevent them
  6. The correct methods for cleaning and sanitation
  7. The importance of pest and waste management
  8. Allergen awareness
  9. Understanding of contamination

How you will be assessed

You will complete an assessment quiz at the end of each section of the course.

Qualification

​On successful completion of this Food Hygiene unit in Food Safety training you will receive a certificate of completion. This document does not constitute a certificate of accreditation or a statement of attainment.

Roles and quality assurance

eLearning Portal Pty Ltd (ELP) is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment that you will receive. Online Food Safety is responsible for delivering the training and assessment via the online eLearning Portal in accordance with ELP requirements.  Based on you achieving these requirements ELP is responsible for issuing you with a certificate of completion.
